Gov. Nixon appoints Rich Hill businessman as new Bates County Southern District Commissioner

JEFFERSON CITY – Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Larry J. Hacker, of Rich Hill, as the new Bates County Southern District Commissioner. The position became vacant upon the death of Commissioner Larry Berry earlier this summer.
Hacker, a Democrat, is a licensed real estate agent who also owns and operates a pizza restaurant, vehicle sales business, and auction business. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 2010 after 23 years, reaching the position of postmaster. Hacker is president of the Rich Hill Community Corporation and a past president of the Rich Hill Chamber of Commerce.
“Larry Hacker has strong roots in Bates County, and people in the county know him from his involvement in business, the postal service and in many civic organizations,” Gov. Nixon said. “I am confident he will ably serve them as their new County Commissioner, and I also want to thank the family of Larry Berry for his dedicated service to the citizens of this county before his untimely passing.”
