Dorothy “Maxine” Wormsley |
Maxine was born November 17, 1922 near Stet, Missouri, the daughter of Buford Allen and Fannie Lena Eve (Forson) Hale. She married Fred Wormsley on July 3, 1939 in Richmond, Missouri. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Harrisonville and a member of the Rodman Homemakers Club, until it disbanded.
Maxine was a stay-at-home mom to her six children. She was also “Nanny” to Sabrina Greenwell and “Little Bill” Dickey, after all of her children were grown and married. They were like her own grandchildren. Maxine was an excellent seamstress. She made a lot of clothes for her five daughters and sewed for others as well. While at club meetings, she made several lap robes for nursing homes and the hospital.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred on August 26, 1988, her daughter and son-in-law, Sonna and Danny Ousterhout and a grandson, Jerry Ousterhout, brother, Bill Hale, sisters, Maurine Cain, Betty Cooley and Jeanie Paul. She is survived by one son, Richard Wormsley (Chang Su), Warrensburg, Missouri; three daughters, Sandra Young (Wayne), Sharon Bell (Eugene), Dorothy Young (Fred), and Joyce Brigham, all of Harrisonville, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Hale, Harrisonville; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
