William Joseph “Bill” Bauer, 72, son of Joe T. and Ina (Good) Bauer, was born October 24, 1942 the Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City, Missouri. He passed away, unexpectedly, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at his home of 18 years in rural Appleton City.
Bill graduated from Appleton City High School in 1960. Immediately following graduation he began work for Deems Farm Equipment and remained with them many years growing to love John Deere. Before his heart pulled him back toward the family farm where he felt he had always belonged, he spent several years as a driver in the over-the-road trucking industry. He made many life-long friends while working at Deems and through trucking. Bill spent the rest of his life doing what he truly enjoyed most, farming and raising cattle. He and son, BJ, had worked side-by-side in the last several years building a bond and sharing that love of farming.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his close friends, whether it was going out for breakfast or meeting at Roaring River for fly fishing. He especially enjoyed attending and showing his car at car shows and cruise nights. Bill was a member of First Baptist Church. Any free moment he had, he wanted to be with his family, his grandchildren meant the world to him and being a grandpa brought so much joy to his life.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, his brothers, Eddie and Jerry Bauer and his sister Betty Rogers. Survivors include his children: William (BJ) Bauer and wife Amanda of Appleton City, Missouri, Cina and husband Milo Housknecht of Raytown, Missouri, Sheri and husband Jamie Cook of Eagle Rock, Missouri, Kevin Bauer and wife Christina of Owasso, Oklahoma and Janet and husband Terry Mire of Kansas City, Missouri; ten grandchildren: Gage and Maddie Bauer, Coen and Liam Housknecht, Quinn and Aidan Cook, Eric and Dylan Dunham, Brenden and Tristin Bauer.
