Larry attended school in Nevada and El Dorado Springs as well as attending a few of his early years at Nash School outside of Nevada. Shortly after his school years he served our country in the United States Army with service including a tour in Munich, Germany as a border guard. He received his Honorable Discharge on October 11, 1971. Upon moving to El Dorado Springs he painted cars for Fugate Motors and for people he knew or met during his life. For more than twenty years he was employed at Cecomo/Barrington in El Dorado Springs as a spot-welder in the duct manufacturing business. In his spare time he loved to tinker with cars and lawn mowers. Larry was an extremely private person who kept to himself but did enjoy a good conversation one-on-one anytime. He enjoyed spending time with family and fishing when time allowed. He was of the Baptist faith and attended church in Bronaugh.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Nichols and husband Robert of Nevada; grandchildren, LaDonna Fleener, Timothy Nichols, and Andrea Moore; six great grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Alexander; Ron Pettibon and wife Rhonda; and Judy McGuirk and husband Kent Ed; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lana Gray; and his infant son, Timothy Dean Pettibon.
A Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service also at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date in the Welborn Cemetery.
