Kenneth, son of John Logan and Gladys (Cobb) Limpus, was born March 16, 1927 at his parent’s farm house southwest of Everett, Missouri. He attended Everett School and Green Valley School and graduated from Joplin High School in 1945. Enlisting in the US Navy upon turning 18, he served on the USS New Jersey and on Eniwetok Island in the South Pacific. A chance meeting on the Butler square in August, 1946, led to the courtship of Kenneth and Vesta Loree Dines; they were united in marriage on April 13, 1949 in Butler, Missouri. After living near Virginia, Missouri, they moved to the family farm in December 1951. In August 1969 they moved to a home in Archie.

Kenneth provided for his family in a wide range of occupations. He farmed, at first with his father and later with an uncle, Basil Cobb. He worked in the forge shop at Westinghouse, operated and drove an independent truck (hauling watermelons from Texas to Minnesota each summer for many years), and, in partnership with friends, John Myler and Bill Divine, developed commercial and residential real estate. But it was for his time operating the D-Li-My Restaurant that he is most widely remembered. With Vesta, they owned and operated this restaurant from 1968 to 1981. He was known as the “pie man” for his tempting of customers with a tray of fresh pie.

He was a member of Adrian Christian Church and previously of Archie Christian Church. He was an active member, serving in various capacities, including as Sunday School Superintendent, Elder and Deacon. Kenneth enjoyed studying geology and spending time with his family and friends.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 67 years, Vesta; three children, Larry Limpus and wife, Mary, Amsterdam, Missouri, Daryl Limpus and wife, Billie, Archie, Missouri, and Gayle Venturella and husband, Tony, Lawrence, Kansas; grandchildren, Barry Limpus, Thea Limpus, Sara Mathes, Rachel Limpus, Chelsea Hannon, and Caley Jo Venturella; step grandchildren, Becky Anderson and Roseann Abeln, both of Pleasanton, Kansas; great grandchildren, Logan Limpus, Ali Mathes, Tyler Mathes, Caden Hannon, and Caley Mae Hannon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Laurine Limpus, and a grandson, Bradley Niven Limpus.
