Visitation will be held at the funeral home preceding the service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
Interment will be in the Appleton City Cemetery, Appleton City, Missouri.
The family suggests any Memorial donations be made to Heartland Hospice, and may be left at the funeral home.
John Henry Parsons, 96, was born in Quincy, Missouri October 10, 1920. He passed away April 14, 2017 at Truman Lake Manor Nursing Home in Lowry City, Missouri.
John attended school for several years at Weaubleau, Missouri until his family moved east of Appleton City, Missouri. He then attended and graduated from Appleton City High School in 1939. After graduation John began farming. He was united in marriage to Mary Geneva Fay Knight on February 12, 1941 and to this union three children were born. John raised milk cows, hogs and chickens along with planting and harvesting row crops. Along with farming, he worked at the ASC office and later served as the St. Clair County Presiding Commissioner for several years. In his younger years, John enjoyed hunting with his brothers, particularly pheasant and quail. He and Clarence also enjoyed attending farm sales. John and Basil were proud to show their spoonbill catch from snagging on the Osceola dam near Bear Creek. John, Geneva, Charles and his wife Neoma loved to travel together. They had been to Mardi gras in New Orleans, several parts of Texas and south into Mexico.
John was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Geneva; three brothers, Clarence, Basil and Charles Parsons; and two sisters, Verna Grube and Pauline Prier.
Survivors include his three children: John Henry Parsons, Jr. (Katherin), Vernon Lee Parsons (Carol) and Judy Fay Piepmeier (Terry); his grandchildren: Barbara Hering (Mike), Clifford Parsons (Anna), Marcus Parsons (Tracy), Phillip Parsons, April Krause (Ryan), Tytus Parsons, Kevin Piepmeier (Nicole), Krista (Piepmeier) Marshall (Deonne) and Kyle Piepmeier (Kristi); his great-grandchildren: Katie and Nathan Parsons, Daniel and Sarah Parsons, Avery and Lans Krause, Ryan and Rylea Marshall, Tyler and Cole Piepmeier, Katelyn and Keith Piepmeier.
