Obituary - Pansy Ann Willis

Pansy Ann Willis, age 85, of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at her daughter’s home in Peculiar, Missouri. Celebration of Life service will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Missouri. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to the Kansas City Hospice Foundation, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Pansy was born January 19, 1932 in Friedheim, a township in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Walter and Lorain (Berkbigler) Lappe. In 1970, Pansy married the love of her life, John K. Willis. It was during that same year that Pansy and her husband, John founded Willis Construction, and Pansy would become the first woman “builder” and also “developer” in Cass County, Missouri. 

Over the years, Willis construction has built over 600 homes and businesses throughout the cities of Raymore, Belton, Peculiar, Harrisonville, and Garden City, Missouri. Pansy was responsible for both the development and building of the Morningview Subdivision, Skyvue Subdivision, Skyvue Estates, and Skyvue Apartments in Raymore as well as many businesses along 58 Highway. 

Pansy was a member of the Eagles Club, a member of the Morningview board of directors, and she served on the Welcoming Community for the Raymore Chamber of Commerce. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, John K. Willis; her parents, Walter and Lorain Lappe; and brother, Carl Lappe. She is survived by her children, Sharla Diamond, Scott Tiehes, Mark Tiehes, Tonda Brown and Tracey Carpenter; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Russell and Willard Lappe; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
