The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1995 Plymouth Voyager Van driven by 78 year old James S. Kinney of Cleveland, Missouri was stopped to make a let hand turn when he was struck in the rear by a 1995 Ford Ranger driven by 19 year old Caleb J. Parrott of Cleveland, Missouri.
Caleb Parrott sustained moderate injuries in this accident and he was transported by ambulance to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.
James S. Kinney sustained minor injuries in this accident and he refused medical treatment at the scene of the accident. A passenger in Mr. Kinney's Van 76 year old Deanna M. Kinney of Cleveland, Missouri was pronounced dead at Belton Regional Hospital around 9:44pm.
Two other passengers in the van 77 year old Retha N. Burkitt sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported to Research Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri or treatment.
Also injured in this accident 65 year old Nathan C. Nannen of Cleveland, Missouri sustained minor injuries and he refused medical treatment at the scene.
Both vehicle's were totaled and towed from the scene by J's Southland Tow.
This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 33rd Fatality of 2017.
