Shooting investigation in Henry County

Deputy Mitch Lambirth is investigating an incident that occurred on Highway 7 south of Clinton on Thursday, May 11, 2017. 

A call was received by Henry County Central Dispatch about 4:30 p.m. from a male caller who alleged that the driver of another vehicle had fired shots at him with a handgun. 

The vehicle description was given to law enforcement officers in the area as it was traveling northbound towards Clinton. Henry County deputies along with the Clinton Police took the suspected shooter into custody after a brief foot chase near the east junction of Highway 13 and Highway 7.

Taken into custody and transported to the Detention Center by Deputy Townsend was Johnny Deon Floyd, age 49 of Warsaw. A handgun and a quantity of suspected marijuana was also recovered from Floyd's person and the vehicle he was driving.

Floyd is being held by the Sheriff's Office on charges of assault first degree, armed criminal action, unlawful possession of a firearm, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and driving while revoked. The investigation is continuing.

According to Sheriff Oberkrom, this incident is not related to the shooting incidents, that are still be investigated, that occurred last week in the southeast portion of Henry County.
