Update: Suspect still on the run after stealing vehicle in Clinton



THIS IS A PHOTOGRAPH of the vehicle theft from behind Jim Raysik's Tuesday morning. This man had crashed a stolen truck on the bypass and then took this truck. He went to a local bank that had not yet opened and asked staff there if they were open and then left.

SUSPECT CUTS A WIDE SWATH

On Tuesday, July 25, the Springfield Police Department were advised of a car theft call on East Pythian Avenue. Police Officers took into custody a female. The female had attempted to flee the scene on foot. A male fled the scene in a stolen truck.

Deputy Sheriff’s from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, spotted the stolen truck at the Flying J Truck Stop on West Chestnut Street. A Deputy Sheriff sought to arrest the male. The driver dragged the Deputy Sheriff and escaped again. He drove through a fence and departed the scene. The Deputy Sheriff was reportedly not injured..

Subsequently, law enforcement officers Officers located the stolen vehicle at the Polk-St. Clair County line.

Law enforcement officers believe the suspect is the same man who wrecked a Silverado truck on the bypass in Clinton, which he had apparently absconded with from a Pilot convenience store in St. Clair County. 

That man left the scene on foot, then stole a green 1994 Dodge Dakota extra cab bearing Missouri handicap license number 0AT56 from behind Jim Raysik Dealership in Clinton.

Clinton Police say the man took off in that truck and was last seen near Garden City along Highway 7.

According to the Clinton Police Department, the man is a white male with a bandanna tied around his head. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and shorts.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. Please exercise extreme caution. Police are asking anyone with information about this man or this incident to call 911.
