Henry County Prosecuting Attorney Richard Shields announced late Thursday afternoon, Aug. 17, additional charges related to the murder of Clinton Police Officer Gary Michael.

A charge of tampering with physical evidence was earlier filed against her husband, William Noble. An Amended Complaint was filed Thursday afternoon adding the following charges: Hindering prosecution, a class E felony, 4 counts of the class D felony of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree, and one count of the class E felony of fraudulent purchase of a firearm.

In addition, William Noble’s wife, Brandie C. Noble, 35, Clinton, has been charged with one count of the class E felony hindering prosecution, and four counts of the class D felony of endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree.

The charges allege that the Nobles returned to their home to find Ian McCarthy in their home, armed with an assault rifle, after they had heard that McCarthy had shot and killed a police officer.

The charges further allege that they harbored him in their home, knowing that an intense manhunt was underway in the immediate area and that there was present in their home 4 children under the age of seventeen who were as a result subjected to a substantial risk of serious physical injury or death.

It is also alleged that William Noble purchased the firearm used in the murder with the intent to immediately transfer it to McCarthy after representing that the purchase was for himself.

These charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent.
