Where else would you get the Doors, the Grass Roots or CCR "live-on-demand"? In Adrian, of course. The Combination Five played many a Saturday night to enthusiastic crowds on Virginia street just behind the current Wimfields location. Although the venue was on the small side, teenagers from all around the area packed in to hear the latest hits performed to perfection. Band members (L to R) Charlie Hocker, Dennis Mager, Mitch Rugg, Danny Rayfield and the late Billy Morrow.
The band won the Battle of the Bands at the Lee's Summit Fair in August of 1970.
Feedback was always positive about the group with the exception of a local police officer who, humored them as being 'too darned loud'.
But hey, that's rock and roll.
