Obituary - Ronald J. Moore


Ronald J. Moore, age 76, Nevada, MO passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2017 due to injuries from a boating accident on Lake of the Ozarks. Ronald was born June 2, 1941 in Albia, IA , the fifth child of Oscar and Ruby (Hasley) Moore.

In his early childhood Ronald and his family lived on a farm near New Sharon, IA. When Ronald was in the 4th grade he along with his family moved to Sheldon, MO where the family farmed. 

Ronald’s mother passed away when he was born and his father later married Edna Curry, she being the only Mother her ever knew. On April 26, 1959 Ronald married Beverly Berry and to his union three children were born; Jim, Robbie, and Veronica. Ronald enlisted in the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of Airman 2nd Class. He was honorably discharged in 1962.

Following Ronald and Beverly’s divorce he married Jerry Walker and became stepfather to her children, Doug, Chris, and Judi. He and Jerry lived in Walker, MO for several years before moving to Aransas Pass, TX to be near Jerry’s mother. Ronald spent most of his adult life driving long haul trucks for various companies. In his career he accumulated over five million miles of accident free driving. After his retirement Ronald and Jerry returned to Missouri living in Nevada where he continued to live until his death.

Ronald and Jerry spent many happy years traveling in their motor home before Jerry passed away on June 15, 2015. Ronald loved to work in his garage rebuilding garden tractors. After Jerry passed away Ronald spent a lot of time with his good friend Tom.

Ronald is survived by his son Jim, son Rob (Phyllis), and daughter Veronica Logston (Robert), all of Hamilton, MO; step-son Doug Brewer of Des Moines, IA, stepdaughter, Judi Brewer of Nevada, and step-son Chris Moore (Atara) of San Diego, CA who was later adopted; brothers Harold Moore of Carthage, and Dean Moore of El Dorado Springs; grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to his wife Jerry, he was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Gary.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery, Milo, MO. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
