Over 100 cases were on the docket for Preliminary Hearing Day at the Bates County Courthouse December 6, 2017 where Prosecuting Attorney Hugh C. Jenkins represented the State at a preliminary hearing for Louis E. Goebel. Goebel was charged in August with assaulting 2 Bates County Deputies. On August 19, 2017 Bates County Deputies were called to a disturbance at the Park Street Bar and Grill in Rich Hill, Missouri.
Workers at the bar contacted law enforcement when Goebel became uncooperative and belligerent to the employees and other patrons. When Deputies attempted to restrain Goebel, he became combative striking one Deputy in the mouth and hitting the other Deputy with his fists.
Goebel was charged with 2 class D Felony counts of assaulting a Police Officer and was taken to jail.
Judge Hopkins bound Goebel over to Circuit Court where he will be arraigned by Judge James Journey December 18, 2017.

Dallas Moreland waived his preliminary hearing yesterday, acknowledging there was enough evidence to hold him over to Circuit Court. Moreland has numerous drug and domestic violence charges and will be arraigned in Circuit Court December 18, 2017. Prosecuting Attorney Hugh C. Jenkins represented the State.
