Public Assistance Requested in Barton County:

Public Assistance Requested in Barton County: On Dec. 30, local conservation agents received a call of suspicious activity on Shawnee Trail Conservation Area in Barton County.

A hunter came across this car hidden in the brush, with a group of four subjects nearby who appeared to be involved with the vehicle.
Conservation Agent Andrew Barnes responded.

As he approached the area of the hidden vehicle, he observed one male subject flee on foot west towards Kansas. Agent Barnes was able to take a second subject on scene into custody.

This subject was transported to the Barton County Jail for outstanding warrants and also faces additional charges pertaining to possession of controlled substance along with other illegal activities on the conservation area. It was determined the vehicle hidden in the brush had been involved in a pursuit with Pittsburg Kansas Police earlier in the day.

Assisting agencies included Barton County Sheriff’s Office, Lamar Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Crawford County Kansas Sheriff’s Office. The investigation is ongoing.

If you have any information pertaining to this incident, or recognize the subject in the photo, please contact Lawrence County Conservation Agent Andrew Barnes at 417-461-4586 or Barton County Conservation Agent Scott Brown at 417-682-4604. – Joe@MDC
