Glen Edward Askew was born December 18, 1926 in Adrian, MO. to Posey and Elizabeth Hanners Askew. He grew up on a farm outside of Adrian with four siblings. Glen was united in marriage to Marjorie Clark on September 5, 1948. To this union three daughters were born.
Glen and Marjorie moved to Independence, MO. where he began working for General Motors and started a construction business of his own. He built many houses and apartments in the Kansas City and Eagle Rock, MO. areas. Glen stayed close to his family roots through his Century Farm in Adrian.
Glen retired from General Motors after a 30 year career and moved to Eagle Rock, MO. to fish, and later developed a love for golf. He was able to enjoy the game well into his 80’s. As life continued and he began to age he loved to feed and watch the birds on his deck. Glen was a devoted member of the Blue Ridge Baptist Church as well as the Cassville First Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years. Glen was known for his “Michigan Salad” that he regularly brought to the senior luncheons at First Baptist.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie Askew, brothers James, Don, and Howard, and by his sister Doris, and by his grandson Jacob Stiles. He is survived by his daughters, Glenda Briscoe (Ed), Rhonda Askew, and Sondra Branham (David), grandchildren, Kyle Kerr, Emily Lococo, Amelia DeLuca, Courtney Briscoe, and Clark Briscoe, great-grandchildren, Landon Lococo, Eleanor DeLuca, and Nina DeLuca, along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Family was always important to Glen and he will be forever remembered as a good and gentle man.
