Deputies began searching the area and received a call from a homeowner in the area of East 291st Street and South Walker Road reporting a suspicious male in her garage.
Deputies responded to the area to search for the subject who ran from the house prior to their arrival. While searching the area a neighbor reported that an unknown male subject had stolen her John Deere Gator and driven off. Cass County Deputies and Missouri State Highway Patrol located the subject driving in a field near East 291st Street and TT Hwy. The subject was taken into custody after a brief chase.
“It’s important for citizens to call and report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. Timely reporting of this suspect’s action led to the recovery of stolen property and his apprehension” said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
One subject has been identified as Kevin R. York, 35, Grandview who was arrested on warrants by the Department of Corrections Parole Violation – NO Bond, Cass County warrant for Resisting Arrest by Fleeing – bond $5000.00, and 6 warrants out of Belton – bond $2000.00. Charges related to today’s incident are pending.
A second subject in the vehicle was taken into custody and transported for questioning.
