Update on Measles in Linn County.

As of Tuesday afternoon, March 20, 2018, no additional cases of measles have been confirmed in Linn County. The Linn County Health Dept. is continuing to work with the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment (KDHE) to identify potential exposures to the measles virus. The Linn County Health Dept. is contacting individuals that may have been exposed.

The Linn County Health Dept. urges people who are ill or exhibiting measles-like symptoms to stay at home unless they are seeking medical care. Before visiting a healthcare provider, call ahead so that the provider can take measures to protect other patients and staff.

Symptoms of measles typically begin with a high fever, cough, runny nose, and red watery eyes. Three to five days after symptoms begin a rash develops and usually starts on the face at the hairline and spreads down to the neck, trunk, arms, and legs. If you are exhibiting these symptoms or believe that you may have been exposed, please contact the Linn County Health Dept. at 913-795-7302.
