Nevada man arrested in St. Clair County

On April 12, Gary Carpenter, 60, Nevada, was arrested by a St. Clair County deputy on a class E felony driving while intoxicated- persistent offender. This is a 24 hour hold pending formal charges.

The charge comes after St. Clair County deputies were called out to Twin Oaks Harbor on a disturbance involving Carpenter. While talking with the deputies, Carpenter admitted to drinking all day.

Deputies warned Carpenter to not get into his vehicle and drive or he would be arrested.

Mr. Carpenter defied the deputies and got into his vehicle and started it up. Carpenter was removed from the vehicle and placed under arrest.
