I picked him up from her on my way home from work. I transported him to my home where he stayed until midnight that same evening. My wife brought him to the Harrisonville Police Station at midnight. Along with her were our youngest son and youngest daughter. This was a learning experience in returning a wild animal .I knew they would benefit from.
Sgt. Pearce, Dispatcher Kendra, my wife, two kids and myself took Nick the fox to the same place where we found him a few days ago. We carried the crate into the woodline. When we opened the crate he stepped out slowly. He went about 15 yards then stopped, turned around and looked back at us. He paced on into the woods.
We stood there for a couple minutes listening. We finally heard his high pitched bark and chirping vocalizations in the distance. For another couple of minutes there was only silence. Then we heard the sounds we were hoping for. High pitched barks and chirps were multiplied. He had found his family.
In this job we see and hear a lot of the negative parts of life. Society is collectively inundated with negativity.
The positive response and support from the community we serve has been amazing. So we thought we would share this happy ending with you.
