Local Teacher wins Area Award

Mark Nelson, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the Bates County Soil and Water Conservation District Board is shown presenting Stephanie Nelson, the Missouri Association of Soil and Water Conservation District Educator of the Year Award for Area 4. The 114 counties in Missouri are divided into 8 Soil and Water Conservation Districts. Area 4 consists of 15 counties.

Stephanie is a Butler Elementary Instructional Coach and a former Butler elementary 4th grade teacher for 14 years. Last March, Stephanie was awarded the Bates County Soil and Water Conservation District Educator of the Year Award for her dedication and enthusiasm in teaching students the importance of soil and water conservation. As winner of Area 4 level, Stephanie’s nomination will now progress to the Missouri State competition level.

The state level awards will be presented at the Annual Soil and Water Conservation Training Conference to be held in November. Good luck, Stephanie!
