The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 2012 Buick Lacrosse driven by 29 year old Reginald M. Carter of Raytown, Missouri traveled off the roadway and struck a guardrail before spinning around and coming to rest in both lanes of traffic.
A passenger in the vehicle 6 year old Kordell N. Carter sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported by Belton ambulance to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri for treatment.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene by Eckerts Tow.
Reginald M. Carter was arrested after this accident and charged with 1.) Driving while intoxicated - Causing serious injury.
Mr. Carter was placed into custody and transported to the Cass County Jail in Harrisonville.
