FLASHBACK: Haymaker's Bridge

A look across Haymaker's Bridge near Foster, Mo was interesting, but a look down was even more exciting. The Marais des Cygnes River was 30-40 feet below, making the trip across this creaking span somewhat of a teeth clencher. It was about 255 feet across, built in 1907 and named after Haymaker's Mill which was located just west of the bridge in the 1870's.

The bridge collapsed into the river in April of 1992.

Today, some pylons and concrete  joiners are all that are left of this piece of Bates County history.
