Update: Police Pursuit ends in crash near Rich Hill

On 5/13/19 around 1:25pm the Bates County Sheriff's Deputies along with Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers were in pursuit of a 2001 Honda Accord driven by 27 year old Johnathan E. Weaver of Holden, Missouri on southbound I-49 near mile marker 119.2 south of Rich Hill.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when Mr. Weaver attempted to pass a vehicle on the inside shoulder of the roadway why fleeing from police, and struck the median causing the vehicle to overturn multiple times before striking a northbound 2004 Newmar Northern Star Motorhome driven by 61 year old Francis D. Forst of Lamar, Missouri.

Johnathan E. Weaver sustained serious injuries in this accident and he was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital before being life flighted to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.

The Honda was totaled and towed from the scene of the crash by Douty's Tow of Butler, Missouri. The motorhome was driven from the scene of the accident and the driver wasn't injured.
