Phyllis Green, 72, passed away on October 15, 2019 in Appleton City, Missouri. She was the daughter of Robert Leonard and Doris Phyllis (Chiarolanza) Green, born on February 17, 1947. She grew up across the United States as a daughter in a Marine family. Later she graduated from Woodbridge High School in Virginia in 1966. Following the completion of her education, she was married and from this union one daughter was born: Heather.
Phyllis earned a cosmetology license, owned her own hair salon, and worked as a hair stylist for more than 30 years in Rogers, Arkansas. Then she moved to Appleton City to be near her family in 2013. There she spent many happy hours serving children and at the Little Apples Learning Center. Apart from this, she dearly loved to spend time with family, friends, and especially her grandchildren. One of her favorite hobbies was going to the casinos in the local area, where, according to her, “she never lost a dime.” Phyllis also enjoyed cooking and teaching her granddaughters to make delicious and savory treats. She always put everyone before herself and delighted in caring for others. She will be deeply missed by her many friends and family.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Green; and one sister, Doris Walkup.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather and husband Tommy Payton; three grandchildren: Shae, Aria, and Jameson; one brother-in-law, Terry Walkup of Gilbert, South Carolina; two nieces, Denise (Glen) Bunch and Dana (Thomas) Brown; and many dear friends.
