James Alvin “Jim” McIntire was born September 12, 1938 in Roscoe, Missouri, the son of Ad and May (DeWitt) McIntire. Jim departed this life November 15, 2019 at 81 years of age with his family by his side.
Jim attended Osceola High School leaving before graduation to work and help his family make ends meet. He spent several years working as a farm hand for Darrell and Florene French. He enlisted in the U.S. Army serving his country during the Korean Conflict in an artillery division. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he was introduced to Yvonne Rapp on a blind date in August 1963 by a mutual friend. They were married June 13, 1964 and to this union two sons were born.
Shortly after their marriage, Jim and Yvonne moved to Buckner, Missouri where he took a job with Thomas J. Lipton Company (Unilever) located in Independence. Jim worked very hard putting in many hours of overtime as he was employed as a warehouser for 29 years.
Jim loved the hours spent on the banks of the Osage catching bass and catfish. He took meticulous care of his cars, keeping them polished and clean. He was a loving man, caring for his family especially enjoying time spent with his granddaughters. He was modest and very frugal, and a man of few words. When he did speak it was pure gold. Jim read his Bible every day and was much loved and respected by all of his family.
Preceding Jim in death were his parents; his brothers, Speck, Charlie and Sonny McIntire; his sisters, Darlene Hearting Schweer, Janie Reasoner, Pearl and two infants. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Yvonne; his two sons, Jeff and Matt McIntire; two granddaughters, Sydney and Lauren McIntire; one great-grandson, Riley Madison; and two sisters, Dessie Rice and Zella Jolliffe.
Jim will be sadly missed by his family and friends
