Archie to cancel classes Wednesday

School will be cancelled on Wednesday February 5, 2020 due to anticipated staff and student absences for those attending the Chiefs Super Bowl victory celebration. The Harrisonville School District has also cancelled classes for Wednesday for the same reasons. This means there will be no Cass Career Center classes.

The state of Missouri sets, through Statute, both the number of days (142) and number of hours (1,044) that school is required to be in session. Archie students will attend 165 days and 1,101 hours this year, which is well over the requirements as set by the state. Additionally, we have scheduled make-up days for days missed. By Statute, we are required to have make-up days included in every school year calendar.

We have soft polled staff and students. It is projected that we would have a statistically significant number of students absent from school, making it a fiscally sound decision to cancel school for the celebration. We also have a significant number of staff that are attending the event and anticipate that we would have difficulty covering the classrooms with certified teachers and substitutes.
***If the weather dictates a change in the parade date and time, the district will broadcast updated information.

Lastly, the basketball games scheduled for Wednesday night will continue as scheduled unless inclement weather dictates otherwise.
Thank you, and Go CHIEFS!
