Missing child found safe in Rockville

On 5/18/2020, The Sheriff's Office received a call in reference to a 4 year old child missing in Rockville Missouri. On arrival and confirming the child was missing for approximately 1 hour, Sheriff Anderson activated an "all officer callout". The Sheriff's Posse was also activated to assist in the search and rescue. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Rockville Fire Department arrived and assisted in the search.

Additional agencies responded to request for assistance included Adrian Police Department, Cass County Sheriff's Office, Vernon County Sheriff's Office and St. Clair County Sheriff's Office. Prior to these agencies arriving the child was found by a passerby walking down the gravel road and turned over to a Missouri State Highway Patrol Sergeant.

Bates County Detectives are continuing to follow up on the case and working with the Department of Children Services. The information will be sent to the Prosecutor for review for any potential charges stemming from this case.

Sheriff Anderson wants to thank the above agencies for their assistance and for those agencies that were responding with manpower and equipment.
