Obituary- Susan Marie Manley

Susan Marie Creekmore Manley, age 65, of Calhoun, MO passed away peacefully Thursday May 7th, 2020 at her home. She was born July 19, 1954 in Blue Springs, MO to John William Creekmore and Francis LaVerne (Downum) Creekmore. She grew up in Blue Springs and graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1972. She was a member of the Plaza Heights Baptist Church in Blue Springs. She had her first job at 14 years old working at a local drive in called the Creamy Cone. 

She worked her way up the career ladder, including working for the Missouri State Highway Dept, and then later working at the Kansas City Courthouse. After having enough of the "city life" she moved to Calhoun, MO in 1985 with husband David Bradley, where she always said it was like living in the country. Susan and David later divorced. Susan was Calhoun City Clerk for 3 years where she met Joseph C. Manley. They united in marriage on August 31, 1991 in Osceola, MO. To this union a daughter was born, Ashley Dawn.

Susan was one of a kind. She was a very kind hearted person, and would help anyone in need. She loved to cook and bake. Cooking was one thing she loved to do and would never let anyone leave the house hungry. She loved animals and watching the wildlife and stopping to pick wild flowers on the side of the road. She loved going to the lake swimming and fishing. She loved to laugh and play cards. But most of all she loved family time.

Susan is survived by her husband JC of the home ; daughter Ashley (Derreck) of Clinton, MO, 2 step daughters Christy (Josh) Douglas of Lakeview, OR ; Amy (Coy) Brown of Jordan, MT ; 3 step grandsons Dillon Houk, Josh (Sheridan) Houk and Joey Houk, all of Clinton, MO and 2 step granddaughters Jazmen Brown of Jordan ,MT and DeLaney Durham of Clinton, MO ; one brother Charles William Creekmore (Pat) of Blue Springs, MO ; one aunt Elaine Farish of Springdale, AR, nephew John Creekmore (Malorie) and their son Carson of Oak Grove, MO; niece Casey Creekmore and daughter Breanna of Warsaw, MO ; sister in law Mary Jane (Marshal) Harroun of Flint, MI ; nephew Ellis Harroun and family Burton, MI ; and niece Edie Davis and family of Flushing, MI. She is also survived by several cousins, including Lisa Wade of Muskogee, OK. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John And Francis Creekmore, stillborn daughter Angel Dawn Bradley, nephew Brett Creekmore, Uncles Joe and Lewis Downum, and an aunt Helen Pattishall.

Graveside Services will be on Wednesday, May 13th, 2020 , at 2 PM at the Calhoun Cemetery, Calhoun, Missouri. Rev. Brad Elmer will be officiating. Memorial contributions can be made in Susan's name to C.A.R.E. and may be left in care of the funeral home
