City Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3, 2020 in observance of Independence Day. They will re-open on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 8:30 a.m.
It is with deep regret that the Appleton City Manor and Countryside Estates have decided to cancel their Annual Independence Day Celebration. They will look forward to seeing you next year.
The 16th Annual Appleton City Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show will be held Saturday, July 11 at the City Park. Check-in is from 8:00 a.m. to noon and the Car Show will be from noon to 3:00 p.m. This year, please turn north on the street on the east side of the park. Circle the park and come in the normal entrance. They will collect the $10 entrance fee and hand out entry forms as you enter the park. They will collect the entry form later from your windshield. There will be judging for all classes with the top 70 for cars and trucks, top 3 for motorcycles and top 3 for rat rods. The first 150 entries will be given dash plaques. D.J. Brandon Wallace will present music on the stage. There will also be a 50-50 drawing and door prizes. Food concessions, biscuits & gravy and cobbler & ice cream will be available. Proceeds from the Show will go toward a pair of $1000 scholarships for local high school students. In addition, Zink Motor Co, which is one of the oldest Ford dealerships in the country, is hosting the Kansas City Antique Car Clu8b at the dealership in Appleton City during the car show. 20-25 Model A’s and Model T’s will be on display. There will be an open house and tours of this historic dealership. The admission is free. The location for this show is across the street from the Appleton City Car Show. Appleton City Rural Health Clinic is announcing FREE sports physicals 2 days in July. Physicals will be offered Wednesday, July 15 and Wednesday, July 22, from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. These days are by appointment only. Jamie O’Farrell, FNP and Kenny Maus, CNP will conduct the physicals. Physical forms must be signed by a parent or guardian. Call the ACRHC at 660-476-2121 to make your appointment today!
Appleton City Rural Health Clinic (ACRHC) proudly announces the addition of Kendrick Maus, CNP to their team of exceptional health care providers, including Jamie O’Farrell, FNP, Cindy Moran, NP, and Dr. Jerad Widman, MD. Kenny comes backed by a very impressive work history with emphasis in trauma medicine, and a passion for taking care of people. His nursing career started after receiving his nursing degree from Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Upon graduation, he worked as a pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) for a year at Via Christi Hospital in Wichita, Kansas before spending 2 years at Cox South in Springfield as a trauma RN. He completed his RN career as a trauma nurse at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, while finishing up his Master’s Degree in Nursing through Cox College. For the past year Kenny has worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the emergency department (ED) at Mercy-Joplin. Recently, Kenny became a new property owner in rural Appleton City, resigned from Mercy-Joplin, and joined the clinic team full time. Kenny would like to further integrate into the community by getting involved with the local high school sports programs through athletic training, in which he would attend the sporting events to provide medical attention to injured players. He would also like to get more involved in the promotion and utilization of the ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Test) program adopted by the athletic department at ACHS last year. Kenny is currently accepting new patients at this time. He is looking forward to planting some roots and building his practice by doing his part to provide exceptional care to the members of his new community. The other full time Nurse Practitioner is Jamie O’Farrell, FNP-BC. Jamie has been providing exceptional care to her patients at ACRHC since 2018, going above and beyond to ensure they are taken care of to the best of her ability. Jamie takes great pride in her practice of providing care to the members of her home town. Jamie, born and raised in rural Appleton City, is the daughter of Jim and Janice McEwan and a high school graduate of Appleton City High School (ACHS). Jamie has a strong working knowledge of chronic disease management and pediatric care, making her a pivotal asset to the rural community with the ability to provide the highest quality care to patients of all ages. In 2018 when an NP position became available, she took it as her opportunity to return to EMH-ACRHC. She is driven by her desire to give back to the community that she was raised in and calls home. She would like to be a part of the continued growth of the clinic and hospital services as well as collaborate with community resources and local businesses to promote healthy lifestyle management within the community. Jamie is also very involved in the community in many ways outside of work. During the 2019 fall sports season she helped the ACHS athletic department obtain and implement the ImPACT program and has coordinated care for the local athletes that qualify for the testing. She will be the head volleyball coach for the 2020 season and has been coaching volleyball for the Optimist Club youth sports program for the past several years. She is also an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Prairie City and a co-leader for the Hudson Hustler’s 4-H program. Jamie is accepting new patients every day and looks forward to seeing you for all your primary healthcare needs.
