The traditional deputy riding a horse has been replaced with all-terrain and utility vehicles. Deputies this week will spend time in the classroom and on the course learning how to navigate different terrain and hazards when operating the off road vehicles.
“The use of ATVs and off road utility vehicles play an important part in accomplishing our mission, said Sheriff Jeff Weber. If we are responding to find a lost child, transport an injured deer hunter from the woods, or assisting fire departments with large natural cover fires, it’s important to move the people and resources where you need them.”
Currently the Sheriff’s Office has 2 ATVs and one Utility vehicle.
