| I SWEAR Denny Rich, Jeff Hall, Lance Sargent and Doncella Liggins formally assume their roles on the city council |
Incumbent Jeff Hall and new council members Doncella Liggins, Denny Rich, and Lance Sargent were sworn in and a warm welcome was extended by the council and others present.
Kevin Garnett, son of the late councilman/former police chief Jim Garnett was presented a plaque by Mayor Henry on behalf of the city and Chief Wheatley. Kevin was also presented with his fathers badge and collar brass.
Dennis Coon appeared before the council. He and his wife want to put a 1981 single wide mobile home on lots they purchased at 507 E. Pleasant St. It appears that their trailer does not comply with current ordinances, the council is reviewing the matter at this time.
July 18th there will be a car show at the Butler Aquatics Center parking lot, which will afford plenty of space for social distancing. There will be some vendors and food set up as well.
It was also announced that the citywide garage sale with Junk in the Trunk on the square will be held on August 1st.
Loose tin and broken gutters are a concern at the Butler airport. Chris Hall is getting estimates to repair the storm damage and they are working on plans for a permanent tower building.
The city is going to try to get started on sunset park this fall when the mowing slows down.
The council approved two new computers for City Hall.
A motion was made to vote on resolution 447 authorizing the Mayor to enter into a contract to sell the property adjacent to the Golf Course to Miles and Emily Umstattd. Mr Umstattd intends to build a home there.
The Butler PD has a new officer coming out of the academy. There are still two openings to fill, applications are being accepted now.
Council approved bids for 300 ft of storm water pipe for Pine Street from Lyons to Mechanic, and 360ft of pipe on Nursery Street, from Main to Delaware. Low bid, $5761.20
The Sewer Jett, VAC truck needs pump repair, there were two bids, the lowest of $3763.17 was approved.
The old leaf machine is used to remove leaves from ditches a culverts that are subject to flooding needs repair. Council approved the needed parts.
