Bates County: Fate of 1.8M relief money to be decided

According to the Missouri State Treasurer, Bates County has been awarded $1,897,218.00 from the COVID Relief Fund, which is a small slice of the 2.3 billion that has been allocated state wide.

And the burning question is... where to use it?

Mid America Live spoke with random townspeople this morning, most of which were not aware the county has an extra 1.8M in the coffer. This of course brought many suggestions were the money could go, from industry to infrastructure and more.

Ultimately however, funds will be channeled as commissioners decide what areas of the county will benefit the most, and this comes with a lot of considerations. Hence, the public is invited to the planning commission meeting at 6 pm tomorrow evening (Tuesday) at the old Butler high school on Pine street to learn more.

The regular Butler city council meeting will be held following at 7 pm and again, the public is encouraged to join in.

Mid America Live plans to lifestream both meetings, providing we have a solid wireless signal. In the event there are technical difficulties with the connection, the meetings will be video recorded and uploaded to our Youtube channel pronto.
