The Missouri State Highway says the accident occurred when the 2003 Ford Explorer driven by 32 year old Hilda L. Mendez of Carthage, Missouri blew a tire and traveled off the right side of and struck a ditch.
Hilda L. Mendez sustained minor injuries in this accident and she was transported by EMS to Nevada Regional Medical Center for treatment.
A passenger in the vehicle 29 year old Otoniel L. Santos of Carthage, Missouri sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri by air ambulance.
The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene of the accident by Schraders Wrecker.
