The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when the 1992 Ford Fiesta driven by 43 year old James R.Beckman of Eldorado Springs, Missouri crossed the center line of traffic and struck the 2003 Ford Escort driven by 36 year old Jennifer A.Young of Rich Hill, Missouri head on.
Mr. Beckman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by Bates County Coroner Greg Mullinax. His body was transported to Mullinax Funeral Home in Butler.
Jennifer A. Young sustained serious injuries in this accident and she was transported to Bates County Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Both vehicle were totaled and towed from the scene of this accident by Douty's Tow of Butler. This is Troop A of the Missouri State Highway Patrol's 47th Fatality accident of 2020.
