Melvin was raised in Nevada. He was a musician and played in several bands as a drummer and guitarist. Most of his life, he worked as a laborer.
Survivors include one daughter, Sarah, California; mother, Sarah Cox, Nevada; great-aunt, Pat Puckett, Nevada; nephew, Nathaniel Tayler, Aurora; aunt, Donna Newton, Nevada; uncle, George Puckett, Nevada; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park.
