Winfred grew up in Vernon County and graduated from Metz High School Class of 1950. Following high school, he began his military career where he served in the United States Navy for 27 years, during which time he worked on valve ship company engines. Winfred then moved to Denham Springs, LA and returned to Missouri three years later. He enjoyed horse racing.
Survivors include one daughter, Lee Hickman, Joplin, MO; two brothers, Vernon Stubblefield, Richards, MO, and Ronald Stubblefield, Carrolton, TX.
