City of Rich Hill warns of possible scam

SCAM ALERT:

Utility customers are receiving phone calls stating their utilities are about to be shut off. They have been asked for bank account information and to go buy a prepaid card from the Dollar General to avoid disconnection.

THIS IS NOT THE CITY OF RICH HILL. Utility bills were mailed yesterday. Like every month, late fees will be assessed on the 15th and disconnects for non-pay are on the 20th.

Please, DO NOT give out your bank account information to anyone over the phone. Check on your elderly family and neighbors. They are usually the victims of these types of scams.
