From the Clinton School District

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES REGARDING NEXT TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH

Beginning this school year, DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) is allowing school districts to implement Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Plans on days that school is not able to be in session due to emergency situations, inclement weather, etc. When school districts implement their AMI Plan, the school hours lost due to closure do not have to be made up.

Due to the extremely cold weather, and potential snow, that is forecast for next Tuesday, February 16th, schools will be closed. Instead, the Clinton School District will be implementing their AMI Plan on Tuesday, February 16th. Students will learn from home next Tuesday on learning activities pre-assigned to them so that learning can continue (on AMI days, virtual students will continue instruction as normal).

Students have been informed of how assignments on AMI days will be communicated to them (more detailed instructions will be forthcoming from your child's school). Any students not in attendance today to receive this information will be given these assignments when they return to school to be completed as make-up work.

Students will be held accountable for completing assigned work. Teachers will check for understanding in a variety of ways including collecting the lessons and activities the next day of attendance, having students submit them electronically, or checking the log of electronic/web-based/app activities for completion.

Since the district is able to utilize our AMI Plan to make up any days missed, the last day of school will be Friday, May 21st. If additional AMI days must be implemented, we will communicate this information to you.

As with all the changes we've endured during this last year, we thank you for your patience, partnership, and grace.

If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's school.
