In conjunction with the barbecue and auction, September 26th will also be the Fifth Annual Car and Truck Show. Car show registration is 12 to 1 p.m. Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 30 entries. Trophies will be awarded to the Top Ten plus Best of Show. Children’s games will start at 12:30 p.m. with the classic country picnic contests.
Horse and wagon rides around the Center will be given during the afternoon with Harry Byram from Sheldon bringing the team and wagon
During the afternoon, try to take a minute and look into the recently remodeled cabins. If you have any questions about the cabins or any aspect of the Center, just ask one of the board members.
Attention will turn to the serving line at 1 p.m. The meal will again be catered by Food Fair of Rich Hill. There will be barbecued beef, pork and chicken with baked beans, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw, bread and iced tea and lemonade. Everyone who wishes to lend a hand to the Center is invited to bring along a cake for the dessert table. Any extra cakes will be auctioned off.
About 1:45 p.m. a unique variety of crafts and collectible items will go on the auction block, headed up this year by Auctioneers Charlie Johnson and Marvin Swickhamer. The craft auction has become known for its quality items ranging from antiques to delicious baked goods.
A popular part of the auction will again be featured this year. The Mad Hatter features ten McGennis Youth Center caps donated by Bell Photography. These caps, each numbered, will be auctioned off. At the end of the auction one of these numbers will be drawn. That winning number will win a Marlin 243 bolt-action rifle, model X57 with a black synthetic stock, donated by Bell Farms.
In the same vein, Schlyer Designs has donated triple circles of yellow, white and rose gold with diamonds (approximately 1 ct.) necklace valued at $1200. Ten numbered bags will be auctioned off, and the winning number drawn will win the necklace. The bags will each contain a gift certificate to Schlyer Designs ranging in value from $10 to $100.

Admission to the barbecue is $10.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (ages 6-12). Tickets are for the meal and are not required for the auction.
