Candy Marshell Phillips, 59, departed this life after a fight with cancer, on September 7, 2021 at her home in the loving arms of her family. She was born September 16, 1961 in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Robert Leroy and Rose Marie (Carl) McKinney.
Candy met her husband of 42 years, Charles “Chuck” Phillips, while babysitting. He saw her later in a convenience store and asked her if she would be interested in cleaning his apartment. They quickly fell in love and married soon after. They were blessed with one son, R.C., whom they love dearly.
Candy worked tirelessly through her short lifetime. After moving to Appleton City, she was hired by the Blue Inn Restaurant as a waitress. She was always cheerful, courteous, dependable and hardworking. After it’s closing, Candy worked as a housekeeper for Appleton City Manor Nursing Home. Between her work and making a home for Chuck, caring for their son, R.C. following his accident, and her brother, Ed, Candy found time to enjoy her grandchildren too. She was a great cook with lasagna being her specialty. Candy, Chuck and R.C. loved to go camping and fishing in her younger years. She was also an avid football fan. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and had served as co-youth director several years ago. Candy had an ever-present smile and kind word for everyone. She will be missed by family and friends.
