Following his graduation from high school he entered the United States Army in 1968 and later was in the United States Army Reserve retiring in 2009. He was called into active duty during Desert Storm. He also retired from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Department and later worked at Murphy Farms for eight years.
In addition to his wife, survivors include seven children: Adam Busey (Anna), Nevada, Laura Busey, Blue Rapids, KS, Tim Busey (Chrystal), Blue Rapids, KS, Shane Douglas (Geri), Sheldon, MO, Robert Busey (Veronica), Colorado, Charla Chadd (Jeremy), Sheldon, MO, Jason Douglas (Holly), El Dorado Springs, MO; 29 grandkids; 9 great-grandkids; a sister, Deborah Lynch (Ron), Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; one sister; and an infant son.
Earl will be greatly missed by all of us, including his “cat”.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 prior to the service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
