Sheriff Weber presented awards for Deputy of the Year, Civilian of the Year, Reserve of the Year, and Auxiliary Member of the Year.
Corporal Jason Heffernan, who’s primary responsibility is to oversee Sex Offender Registration was presented the Deputy of the Year for 2021.
As of December 2021 Corporal Heffernan had the non-compliant sex offender registration rate for Cass County at 2.31%, which is down from 8.8% the previous year. This is the lowest non-compliant rate in the history of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
"To put that 2.31% into perspective, the State of Missouri’s overall non-compliant rate is 11.6%. "There is no imaginary line surrounding our county that makes our compliance rate so low, it’s the hard work put in everyday by Corporal Heffernan," said Sheriff Jeff Weber.
The remaining 2.31% of non-compliant offenders all have been charged and currently have warrants issued for their arrest, thanks to Corporal Heffernan.
