Obituary - Brenda Cook

Brenda Cook, age 63, of Clinton, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Brenda was born January 29, 1959, in Appleton City, MO to Howard Cook and Dorothy Hake Cook. She died on February 19, 2022, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. A funeral will be planned at a later date.

She attended St Mary’s School and Montrose R-14 School in Montrose, Missouri. Brenda worked various jobs in the Montrose and Clinton, Missouri areas. She was a great cook and worked at the Clinton Country Club and Short Street Tavern. She had an uncanny way of knowing what the farmers in Montrose would like to eat. She also worked as a caregiver to elderly women in their homes. Severe back injury resulted in her being unable to continue these occupations.

She was very close to her niece Megan and looked forward to visits and phone calls from her very much. The three daughters of her best friend Kathy Collins were very special to her, they tagged her with the name “Beezer”. She enjoyed daily phone conversations with her aunt Donna and cousin Shannon. Brenda loved cats and was entertained almost nightly by anecdotes from her good friend Donna Snethen about “Homer” and “Princess”. Brenda was quick witted and loved to visit and laugh with family and friends too numerous to name individually. She was a great caregiver to her mother and never complained.

Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Howard Cook, grandparents, Clem and Anna Cook, and Joe and Fern Hake, and sister Joni Cook. Brenda is survived by her mother Dorothy Cook, brother Dennis Cook, sisters Sandra Cook and Sue Ellen Cook all of Clinton, MO, sister Beverly Dennis and brother-in-law Bob Dennis of Lake Placid, FL, niece Megan Cook (Matt Davidson) of Cape Coral, FL, niece Jamie Benson (Tim) of Cedar Falls, IA, nephew Bobby Dennis (Crystal) of Montrose, MO, great nephews Jaden and Jaxen Kramer, great nieces Izabella and Emelia Dennis, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Vansant-Mills Funeral Home in Clinton, Missouri and are pending at this time.
