The vehicle was taken around 6:30 AM this morning, which was verified by the use of a GPS device that was in the vehicle at the time of the theft.
The car was later recovered in Grandview Missouri and it appeared that the car was involved in an accident at some point, as it was now damaged and no longer drivable and had to be towed away.
The Police are asking for the public's assistance in this investigation to work on identifying the person(s) who might have been responsible for this act.
If anyone from the Starbrooke Housing Division can recall any suspicious subjects or vehicles in the neighborhood, especially in the vicinity of S. 6th Street East and Starbrooke around 5:30 - 6:30 AM, it would be helpful if you could reach out to our agency.
If you happen to have any security video or doorbell camera recordings of the perpetrator, please get a copy of the images to us as well.
Please remember to park you vehicles in well-lit areas, remove any valuables and remember to roll up you windows and lock the vehicle doors before turning in for the day.
Unfortunately there are a few who feel the need to take property from others, and any assistance given in this investigation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, and be safe!
