Obituary - Kathy Lea Knight

Celebration of Life for Kathy Lea Knight of Clinton, Missouri will be held at the home of Allen and Donna Porter (6444 NE Business 49 Loop, Butler, MO 64730) on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. Inurnment at a later date in Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler.

Kathy Lea (White) Knight, age 70 of Clinton, Missouri passed away on May 11, 2022 in Kansas City, Missouri surrounded by loved ones. She was born October 6, 1951 in Butler, Missouri to her parents, Kenneth and Jewell Faye (Porter) White. Along with her siblings, she was raised in Butler and Belton, Missouri.

Kathy became a CNA and a Med-tech at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. She married Rick Knight and with their union they had a son, Chris Knight of Urich, Missouri. Later, she adopted Marissa Knight of St. Joseph, Missouri. She was a foster parent to over 30 babies and a babysitter to countless children of the community. Several would come back to visit with their own children. She had a passion for gardening, flowers, handiwork and all sorts of sports, especially the Chiefs.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Jewell Faye (Porter) White; her niece, Danielle Lorene Barth; and great-nephew, Elijah Short. She is survived by two children–son, Chris Knight of Urich, Missouri and daughter, Marissa Knight of St. Joseph, Missouri; three siblings–brother, David (Dana) White of Grapeland, Texas, daughter, Betty (Mark) Severson of Urich, Missouri, and brother, Joseph (Kelly) White of Versailles, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
