The pursuit entered Missouri and went through Amsterdam. Around the Kamp Keirsey area the subject turned around and headed back towards Kansas. The vehicle stopped and a passenger exited the vehicle, the vehicle then continued to flee toward Kansas. Linn County Deputies took that female into custody.
Bates County Deputies along with Missouri Highway Patrol continued to the area to search for the vehicle. A short time later the vehicle was spotted by a Bates County Deputy in Drexel. The Deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and another pursuit ensued. The vehicle left Drexel and entered back into Kansas. The deputy pursued the vehicle north on Highway 69 until the vehicle came back into Cass County Missouri on 355th street.
Additional Deputies responded to the area and engaged in the pursuit. The vehicle returned to the Drexel area during the pursuit. The vehicle drove down a gravel road toward a set of train tracks where a train happened to be passing. The vehicle had to stop and the deputies were able to block the vehicle in because of the train. Before the train had completely went by the deputies were able to extract the subject from his vehicle and take him into custody.
A sizable amount of narcotics were recovered from the vehicle.
Sheriff says, “Friday the 13th was not a good day for this gentleman. How unlucky is it to lose the deputies in a pursuit into another state then stay around the area just to have them find you again. Then you run back to your home state and at some point decide your going to go back to Missouri where you are inconvenienced by the good ole railroad! There is a word for that….. To the Engineers on that train today. Thank You for your impeccable timing!”
Charges will be forwarded to the Bates County Prosecuting Attorney along with possible charges in Kansas.
The male subject also had an active warrant for assault, criminal threat and criminal damage out of Johnson County Kansas with a $5,000 cash or surety bond.
