Larry Lee Purvis was born on September 15, 1944, the son of Kenneth and Loene (Muchmore) Purvis. He passed away peacefully at Healthcare Resorts of Leawood in Leawood, Kansas, after a courageous 22-year battle with Parkinson’s disease on April 18th, 2023 at age 78. He grew up in Appleton City, where he graduated from Appleton City High School in 1962. Shortly after graduation, Larry began a long and successful career of 40 years with Sears, Roebuck & Co.

Larry married Jean Lawson shortly after graduating high school, and to this union, two daughters were born, Joy Christine and Dawn Michelle. He later married Vicki Lynne Garland on December 18th, 1976, his wife of 46 years. His family was the most important thing in his life, and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As part of the Muchmore-Purvis music legacy. Larry had a beautiful singing voice and talent for playing the guitar and piano. His dedication to music continued throughout his lifetime.

Larry was a genuinely nice person who never met a stranger, he would light up a room with his smile. Many happy hours were spent on the golf course with his friends, and he treasured those moments immensely. Larry was someone who dearly enjoyed life, and quickly mastered anything he took an interest in, including drawing, photography, and acquiring his pilot’s license. He will be deeply missed by his many family and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Loene Purvis; his siblings Susan and Monty Purvis.
