In keeping with the department's "Fallen Not Forgotten" pledge we awarded three $1200.00 scholarships, one for each of our fallen officers, during the Cass Career Center's Awards Night ceremony last evening.
Lt. Darla Harris announced the winners of the Marler-Wirt-Sumner scholarships during the ceremony. This year’s winners are: Breanna Layton (Ray-Pac High School), Elizabeth Lundeen and Kendra Riggs (Harrisonville High School).
Congratulations to each of our winners and thank you for carrying on the legacy of those who have lost their lives while in the line of duty here in Harrisonville.
The scholarships are funded each year through payroll deduction of department and other city staffing.
Pictured along with this year's recipients are Mable Sumner, mother of fallen Officer Chandler Sumner, Lt. Harris and Chief Hofer.
