On 06/16/23 at or about 11:30am, a Lamar Police officer observed a male leaving a property near 11th and Lexington. The male was on a bike and was wearing a backpack. The officer recognized that the building on the property was closed. The officer then attempted to make contact with the male.
The male abandoned the backpack and continued on. Inside the backpack officers located an item they believed to be stolen. They were able to contact the building owner and confirm that the item was stolen from the building.
The male, Michael W. Wilkinson, 33, of Lamar was located and arrested for 2nd Degree Burglary and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently incarcerated in the Barton County Jail awaiting formal charges.
As is the case in all arrests, charges are based on probable cause and all persons are considered innocent until or unless proven guilty in court.
